The Philadelphia Convention

Also known as the Constitutional Convention, The Philadelphia Convention was essentially  a meeting to decide how America would now survive after being seperated from the glorious, magnificent, superb and ultimately superior Great Britain. The United States would now have to think for themselves (and look where that got them). The intention, really, from the outset was to give up and try something new, instead of pulling up their sleeves, using a bit of elbow grease, and try and fix something that was broken. Typical Americans.
One result of this Convention was the Constitution of the United States, possibly the biggest waste of paper ever in the history of mankind. I mean, how can something written and signed over 200 years ago still be relevant or apply to modern day thinking. Granted, it has been slightly flexible to move with the times, but the reality is that attitudes have changed completely. The way in which the government works could never have been forseen by the Fore Fathers. What I mean and refer to by this is all the corruption and elitism that currently exists within US Politics. The obscene amount of money that is spent on ensuring another man ruins the economy of supposedly the 'greatest super-power' or declares war on another that clearly doesn't have Weapons of Mass Destruction, but has something that the lumbering oaf that is America wants.
Compared to this system, the UK and it's politicians seem like angels with halos around their heads. So what some man claimed £1600 for a duck pond in his garden. At least those ducks had a nice home to live in. His caring side was shown. The RSPCA should give MP Sir Peter Viggers a medal. Clinton, for the 2008 Presidential Campaign. raised just short of $90 million (roughly £84 million). Now one might think that if this money was to enhance the lives of those less well off, while helping to promote a candidate who had no chance in hell of winning (gender issue), then this ridiculous amount of money may have been justifiable. However, all it helped to do was line the pockets of those greedy, self-indulged, arrogant and pompous ars*ho*** who control national and state television. Not only this, but into the pockets of those who could already buy the whole of Harlem 10 times over (I know, not a hard task, but I'm trying to emphasise poverty here), just to make sure that when these egotistical pr**** were asked who they were supporting, they would reply 'That woman'.
Don't get me wrong, I know British Politics isn't exactly squeaky clean, but I'm sure anyone (apart from those igonorant Americans) would agree that for purer, more just politics, the United Kingdom is the place to be. After all, we showed the US what democracy was. Without us, they would probably still be cavemen and women running about with leaves covering their genitals. The corruption has to go, and as long as it remains there, the Slough that is the state of American Politics will never surpass the greatness that is the Democracy that we Brits created and still ultimately uphold.
